Who are Helix Heroes?

At Helix45, we know that a neuromuscular or rare genetic diagnosis doesn’t just happen to one person, it happens to the entire family, our Helix Heroes.

For the Siblings

A Place Just to Be Kids

We provide structured, regular sibling events that combine professional emotional support with intentional team-building. We remove the therapy schedules and medical equipment, replacing them with a safe environment where siblings can process their unique challenges and connect with peers who truly understand their home life.

The sibling wish

Because these sidekicks sacrifice so much, siblings who consistently engage in our programming become eligible for a "Sibling Wish" a curated, transformative experience or item granted to celebrate their resilience.

For the Whole Family

Barrier-Free Connection

We host monthly, fully accessible community gatherings, such as our Family Dinners. These meticulously planned events provide a safe, inclusive environment where the medical diagnosis does not dictate the experience. It is a space for parents to organically share resources, for siblings to play, and for families to step out of survival mode and simply exist together.

The Helix Heroes Vacation:

Eventually, once a year, we fully fund and facilitate an accessible, multi-day restorative getaway for one selected family, alleviating the immense barriers associated with traveling with complex medical needs.

For Adult Caregivers & Marriages

Preserving the Foundation

We offer regular, low-barrier support gatherings, like our Mom’s Comfort & Connect, where caregivers can find solidarity and share the intense logistical weight of healthcare navigation

The Annual Retreat:

We host an annual restorative retreat. This provides couples the clinical tools to prioritize their marriage outside of their medical roles, while giving solo caregivers a rare, vital opportunity for deep rest without the daily demands of care management.

For the Community

Education & Inclusivity

We actively break down stigmas through regular community outreach, including strategic "Lunch and Learns" for local businesses and healthcare providers.

The Vision for Schools:

We are actively working to eventually expand our educational programming into local school systems.

Our goal is to equip educators and students with the tangible tools needed to create accessible environments, teaching them not only how to include peers with medical needs, but how to recognize and support the neurotypical siblings sitting right beside them in the classroom.

The Helix45 Difference

No matter which program you attend, every Helix45 initiative is built upon three core promises:

1

Barrier-Free Accessibility

We take on the planning and the cost where possible, ensuring participation never adds to a family’s cognitive or financial load.

2

Peer-Driven Solidarity

We move families from isolation to an interconnected community of peers who intimately understand the journey.

3

Consistent Support

We provide a reliable, predictable cadence of events so our families always know they have a safety net.
